About HK Broadband Map
HK Broadband Map provides a comprehensive view of broadband internet coverage across all buildings in Hong Kong. Compare ISP availability, speeds, and technologies at the building level.
Data Sources
- Building Database: HK Government Address Lookup Service (ALS) — provides canonical building addresses with coordinates
- Building Names: Rating and Valuation Department (RVD) — comprehensive bilingual building names
- Fibre Coverage: OFCA Building Fibre Register — buildings with optical fibre access
- ISP Plans: Individual ISP coverage checkers — HKBN, PCCW/Netvigator, HGC, SmarTone, CMHK, i-Cable
How Address Matching Works
Each ISP uses different address formats. We normalize addresses using a multi-pass algorithm:
- Exact match on normalized building name
- Fuzzy matching using Levenshtein distance (threshold: 85%)
- Street + number matching within the same district
- Verification via the HK Government ALS API
Low-confidence matches are flagged with a warning indicator. We continuously improve matching accuracy as we collect more data.
ISPs Covered
- HKBN (香港寬頻) — Residential fibre broadband
- PCCW/Netvigator (網上行) — HKT's residential broadband
- HGC (和記環球電訊) — Fibre and DSL services
- SmarTone (數碼通) — Fibre broadband in designated buildings
- CMHK (中國移動香港) — Home broadband services
- i-Cable (有線寬頻) — HFC network broadband
Limitations
- Coverage data is scraped from ISP websites and may not reflect real-time availability
- Some newly constructed buildings may not appear in the database
- Pricing information may be outdated — always verify with the ISP
- Address matching is not 100% accurate for all buildings
